laura taylor

just some pretty pictures taken by laura taylor

jamie lindell

this is music you crank up as high as you can and either aggressively nod your head to or bounce up out of your chair and dance along to

and what a voice, i love these songs, his music seem like a mix of so many styles but i really hear the funk and soul and i love that

overall, just so fun, music that puts a smile on your face

little bit of feel good: (the video is, let's say, distracting)

figured me out:

missoni headbands

so i love missoni, many years ago I saw a clip about how the family makes their patterns, and i immediately fell for it

since it's cold, and i still opt to wear my hair in a large bun on the very top of my head, headbands have proven a very good option for keeping my oh so delicate ears warm; i can't wear hats because they won't even fit over the bun and hoods look somewhat ridiculous

oh, what a combination i have found: missoni's 2010 winter collection headband

i really like these

hypnotize u and hot mess

couldn't help but laugh watching n.e.r.d.'s new music video, 'hypnotize u,' funny stuff

oh, and i guess it's shot in a nice place too

chromeo's 'hot mess' is also great

both solid videos

francoise nielly

francoise nielly is an ultra cool french artist

i find her style unique and her use of colour a trademark in her modern work

and i loved finding out she that she's middle aged, i don't know why, but i just did not expect that from looking at her work
maybe because her subjects tend to be quite young
either way, i guess i shouldn't come to such conclusions so quickly

if i ever learn how to use a knife, i think i'd like to learn under her

many many more images of her work on her site: http://www.francoise-nielly.com/

in flanders field the poppies blow

wild poppies, near argenteuil, claude monet, 1873

on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month canadians stand in silence, asked to reflect on the memories of those who have sacrificed their lives while serving their country in the military - remembrance day

while watching the memorial service taking place in ottawa this morning, i was actually shocked to hear that canada's last first world war veteran died at age 109 this past year - i don't know why, but something just sort of sank inside of me

we embrace the symbol of the poppy by wearing them on our jackets or bags, to show our respect for those who gave everything for their country
the poppy dates back to the napoleonic wars when poppies were the first plants to grow on the graves of fallen soldiers in the area of flanders
and so came john mccrae's poem, 'in flanders fields,' which forever immortalised the poppy as a sign of remembrance

mark shaw and vanity fair lingerie

mark shaw was a photographer best known for his photographs of jacqueline and john f. k.

he shot some pretty amazing pictures, and not just of the kennedys

below are some images from a lingerie advertising campaign he did for vanity fair starting in 1953 - absolutely gorgeous photographs

they were taken over a ten year period and received annual recognition from the art director's club

i love how the eyes are covered or the face is not shown in every photograph; perhaps a look back on a more modest time - although, they still give off a great greek goddess vibe

let your jaw drop

a beautiful house

how i would love to live in this house

the residents are fashion designer david delfin and photographer gorka postigo

and it's in madrid, doesn't get much better than that

i love how the physical structure of the house acts as a white backdrop to all the beautiful artwork and furniture within it, not to say the house itself is not something special in its own right

every piece of furniture and art is just so well placed and all accent each other so positively

i love it

how much?
